Hypnotherapy is very different from stage Hypnosis , very rarely is there direct suggestions , you never are made to do anything you don’t want to . In my practice I like to tell stories and within those stories there is a metaphor for change . This is called a Neo Ericksonian approach . It is based on the work of Milton Ericksonian an American Psychotherapist who in his practice was very much solution focussed instead of delving deep into the minutiae of someone’s life .
This was often achieved through telling a story that was relevant to the individual and was relatable for them and in it there was often a change that would happen . This is because Hypnotherapy deals with our unconscious Mind that is not linear and practical but creative . The subconscious mind is then able to decipher the meaning behind that story even if on the surface it appears quite different and unrelated to the issue . So don’t worry you will not be commanded to do anything , instead sit back relax and listen to a story for your mind to enjoy.
